West Ham will face competition to sign Olivier Giroud from Ligue 1 side Lyon, according to reports from The Metro.

The French side are interested in bringing the want away Arsenal striker to the Parc Olympique Lyonnais this summer in the wake of rumours that star striker Alexandre Lacazette is set to leave the club, with Arsenal themselves interested in the France international.

Lyon have already signed Chelsea striker Bertrand Traore this summer in a deal worth £8.8 million, however are looking further to bolster their attacking options. The club have not won the Ligue 1 title in almost a decade due to the domestic dominance of PSG and most recently AS Monaco, however manager Bruno Génésio will be hoping to change that this year.

Giroud should be allowed to leave the Emirates this summer should Arsenal be successful in their pursuit of either Lacazette or Kylian Mbappe – the player for whom they had an phenomenal £87 million bid rejected.

While it was thought West Ham would be the inevitable destination for Giroud, who reportedly is keen to remain in London, Lyon will now look to the 17-goal-hitman as a replacement for Lacazette should he leave the club this summer.
