West Ham are set to lose their chase for Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traore after the player has agreed a loan deal with Ligue 1 side Lyon, according to reports from TalkSport.

Traore spent last season on loan at Ajax where he scored 13 times and made 4 assists for his team mates as the Eredivise side reached the Europa League final.

After his impressive term in Holland, West Ham were alleged to be interested in bringing the Burkina Faso forward to the London Stadium on either a season-long loan or permanent deal, however those hopes have no been dashed as the 21-year-old looks set to spend the year in France instead.

The Hammers will now have to look elsewhere in their pursuit for a striker, with Arsenal’s out of favour striker Olivier Giroud and Traore’s Chelsea team-mate Michy Batshuayi being the club’s top targets ahead of the new season.

Traore – also a target for Eveton – joined Chelsea’s academy from Auxerre back in 2010, rejecting Manchester United for Stamford Bridge in the process.
