Three German clubs are pursuing West Ham midfielder Havard Nordtveit, according to Kicker.

The German football magazine is reporting that Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are all keeping an eye on the Norwegian. The 26 year old joined from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach last season on a free transfer but has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League.

He made 13 starts and 21 appearances in total last campaign but had to contend with a number of injuries which made his first season at the London stadium a difficult one.

During his 21 matches for the Hammers, Nordtveit has only played in his favoured defensive midfield position nine times in total with manager Slaven Bilic having also employed him as a right back and centre half.

After a troubled season, it seems a return to Germany could be on the cards. Hoffenheim are reeling from the departures of both Sebastian Rudy and Niklas Sule to Bayern Munich and are looking to rebuild their squad after qualifying for the Champions League last campaign.

Levekusen and Wolfsburg meanwhile struggled at the wrong end of the table last season, with Wolfsburg only narrowly missing out on relegation after winning a playoff tie against Eintracht Braunschweig.
