West Ham are keeping track of Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal, according to the Daily Star.

The French club reportedly turned down a bid from the Hammers last summer, but with the Algerian international’s contract expiring at the end of the season, he could join on a free transfer on July 1st if a deal with the player can be agreed.

Monaco are however believed to be favourites to land the 24 year old and West Ham will have to offer a sizeable amount to persuade the midfielder to make the switch to the Premier League, rather than remain in Ligue One.

Ghezzal has played 33 matches in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing seven assists. Playing mostly from the right wing, it is likely the Lyon star is being lined up as a replacement for Michail Antonio if the West Ham midfielder opts to leave the London stadium.

The Times are reporting that Antonio is in the middle of a contract dispute with the club after turning down a new deal which is reportedly less that the wages that were offered to January signings Jose Fonte and Robert Snodgrass.
