West Ham have begun their summer recruitment drive by offering Manchester City full back Pablo Zabaleta a two year deal to make the switch to the London stadium, the Sun reports

The 32 year old is believed to have been offered £100,000 a week which would make him the club’s highest paid player. Free agents generally command higher salaries and hefty signing on bonuses due to the absence of a transfer fee, and it seems the club have bitten the bullet to try and beat rivals to the Argentinian’s signature.

The Hammers have reportedly turned their focus towards Zabaleta after initially focusing their attentions on another free transfer signing, City team mate Bacary Sagna.

The club have been looking for cover at right back since last summer. The only recognised right sided full back currently in the squad is Sam Byram, and Slaven Bilic has employed a number of different players in the problem position this campaign without much success.
