West Ham have been linked with a move for Lamine Kone.

According to a report in the Croydon Advertiser the Sunderland defender is being hunted by a number of Premier League clubs following the relegation of the Black Cats.

Kone only joined Sunderland in January from Lorient and was blameless in their relegation plight.

Davie Moyes had to fight hard to get the money to sign the 28-year-old but it seems inevitable due to Sunderland’s grim finances that Kone will be sold in the close season.

Slaven Bilic is looking to tighten up his defence with Kone having six years experience of French football and settling quickly into a struggling Sunderland side.

After an up and down season Bilic is under pressure to make a strong start to next season with little room for development or introducing medium term signings.

Sunderland will be looking to show a profit on their £6m January signing with Crystal Palace and West Brom also in contention for the French defender.
