West Ham could trigger Barcelona winger Jordi Mboula’s release clause as they look to sign the 18 year old from the Catalan giants, according to the Daily Star.

The player is also interesting Monaco and Benfica, the paper reports, but the Hammers are apparently in pole position after being the first to make contact with the Spanish Under 19 international.

Mboula is highly regarded at the La Liga champions but the midfielder’s low buyout clause of just £4.1million means West Ham do have a chance of signing him.

Barca are looking for a similar deal they have in place for Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu. A buyback clause will allow them to bring the player back for a set fee within two years if Mboula develops to a high enough standard.

The winger has impressed in the UEFA Youth League this campaign for Barcelona, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in nine matches as the Catalan club made it to the semi-finals.
