West Ham forward Jonathan Calleri has told ESPN Brasil that he is now happy to stay with the Hammers after starting the last four Premier League games.

The Argentinian flirted with a return to former club Sao Paulo in the January transfer window, but he says that after adapting to the Premier League and learning English, he is happy to remain at West Ham, or at least in Europe:

“I am happy to be here, I have adapted to what is the Premier League, what is English football, I learned to speak English, which was what I was missing, the truth is that I am very happy here. I want, if I can, to stay here at West Ham or to go to another club in Europe, which is what I always wanted.”

The 23 year old started the 4-0 loss to Liverpool yesterday, but he was ineffective and was substituted after 55 minutes. That was despite a promising display against Tottenham in the club’s last match where his work rate was appreciated by the West Ham fans.

Calleri is currently on loan from Deportivo Maldonado, but the Hammers do have an option to sign the striker permanently for £16m at the end of the season, according to the Guardian. Considering the forward has scored just one deflected effort in 19 appearances, it is unlikely that West Ham will trigger the clause in his loan contract.
