West Ham and Everton are among a number of clubs keeping a close eye on Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, according to the Mirror.

The Belgian international has struggled with a series of injuries over the past two seasons but has started two of the last three league games under Pep Guardiola.

There are doubts about the 31 year old’s long term fitness though and it seems both the Hammers and Everton will only seriously consider a summer move for the centre back if he manages to stay on the pitch between now and the end of the season.

In that scenario though, City may consider keeping hold of the defender. City manager Guardiola has already stated Kompany will be part of his first team plans for next season so it seems a long shot for West Ham, unless injury problems further curtail his game time.

Manager Slaven Bilic is said to be looking at other centre halves to fix his leaky defence for next season, including Harry Maguire, but if Kompany is available, it seems like an option worth considering. The major concerns over his injury record may however lead to West Ham moving on to other potential summer targets.
