Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic’s move to Besiktas has reportedly broken down over the Croatian’s wage demands, according to Turkish-football.com.

The 30 year old has also been linked with West Ham, Marseille and Galatasaray in recent months but the English language Turkish website say Besiktas have not been able to match the forward’s request for €7million a season.

The Turkish champions are still believed to be interested in Mandzukic, and will attempt to offer a lower wage, but it does provide an opportunity for the Hammers if they are indeed interested in the Juve star.

The Sun reported last month that West Ham have kept an interest in Mandzukic with manager Slaven Bilic having managed the player at international level.

The striker has been a regular in the Bianconeri’s first team this season, but he has had to play out of position on the wing to accommodate record signing Gonzalo Higuain in the central striking berth. It has meant the Croatian international has scored just seven times in 37 games this season.
