West Ham manager Slaven Bilic says he is sticking with Darren Randolph as his number one goalkeeper despite his costly error against Sunderland at the weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international could not hold on to a cross, and allowed Fabio Borini to score an equaliser during injury time for the Black Cats on Saturday, but the Hammers boss says he is loyal to his players, especially to goalkeepers whose mistakes usually lead to goals. He is quoted by clubcall.com as saying:

“I don’t like to change goalkeeper on a game-by-game basis. Randolph has been waiting for his chance for a long time and he has done well for us. So you have to stay behind players, especially keepers.”

Randolph took over from Adrian as first choice keeper for the 3-2 defeat to Spurs back in November. He has not missed a Premier League game for the Hammers since then.

Speculation has been rife about West Ham seeking a new number one in the summer with Manchester City’s Joe Hart and Chelsea’s Asmir Begovic among those that have been linked with a switch to the London Stadium in recent months.
