West Ham defender Jose Fonte says he is not happy with his form since moving to the Hammers in January but he is determined to improve and help the London club back to the top half of the Premier League.

The 33 year old was speaking in an interview with Portuguese news outlet TSF (quotes via Maisfutebol) when he said he hopes the club can improve their form in order to finish in the top 7 or 8 next season:

“I’m satisfied with the change [of club], of course. However, it has not been the beginning that I dreamed of, but I am convinced that it will improve and we will try to make a good final league [position) and then, next season, of course there are other aspirations. We will try to make a fantastic season because we have all the conditions to reach the top 7, top 8 in England.”

Since his arrival from Southampton for £8m, Fonte has played in 11 league matches. In that time, the Hammers have conceded 23 goals and kept just one clean sheet.

Slaven Bilic confirmed this week that Winston Reid is fit and in line to return against Everton on Saturday. The West Ham manager will have to decide whether to bench James Collins or Fonte for the game against the Toffees (if they opt for a back four). On form, there is a case that the Portuguese international would be the one to miss out.
