West Ham had a scout in the stands for Bologna’s 4-1 win over Chievo Verona on Sunday afternoon, according to Tuttomercatoweb. They were believed to be watching midfielder Simone Verdi.

Ostensibly a right winger, the 24 year old has also been employed on the left hand side and as a centre forward this season by Bologna. He played in the support striker role against Chievo, and his one goal and one assist during the match wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by the Hammers scout.

Verdi did miss two months of the season between November and January with an ankle ligament injury but he has still managed 22 appearances in all competitions this season. He has scoredĀ five goals and three assists in total and will be hoping for a strong end to the campaign after returning to full fitness.

He only moved to Bologna from AC Milan in the summer and has a contract until 2020 so it is unlikely he would be allowed to leave without a good offer being put on the table.
