Everton forward Enner Valencia says he would like to remain at the Toffees, but he hasn’t ruled out a move to Spain or Italy if his time on Merseyside doesn’t work out.

The Ecuadorian is on a season long loan from West Ham, with Everton having an option to buy the player for £14.5m in the summer. The 27 year old has made 16 appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side since joining the Blues but he has managed just five starts, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

His lack of game time is something that is concerning Valencia but he told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo he is willing to fight for a starting spot:

“This season I have not had as many minutes as I was used to, but I’m still fighting, I’m still training very hard and I’m hoping to win the position.”

“I would like to stay in Everton, but if there is an opportunity to go to Spain or Italy we would have to analyze it and see what decision we made. I would love to play in Spain, hopefully the opportunity will come.”

An added complication is the fact that manager Ronald Koeman is one of the favourites to takeover from Luis Enrique at Barcelona. The Dutchman brought Valencia to the club, and if he departs to Catalonia, it remains to be seen what the future would hold for the striker.
