West Ham goalkeeper Adrian will remain at the club beyond the end of the season after the Hammers triggered an option to extend his current contract, according to the Sun.

The Spaniard looked set to leave the London stadium at the end of the current campaign after being replaced as number one goalkeeper by Darren Randolph.

The 30 year old signed a contract back in 2015 which gave West Ham the option to extend his deal beyond June 2017, and he will now remain with the club; most likely as the Hammers number two keeper.

Questions had remained over whether manager Slaven Bilic would make a move for another keeper in the summer. West Ham have been linked with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart in recent months, while earlier in the season a move for Chelsea reserve goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was also suggested.

Current number one Randolph has been between the sticks since mid November when he was named in the starting lineup for the 3-2 league defeat against Tottenham. Before the Chelsea game last week, when asked about Begovic, manager Slaven Bilic said he had no interest in the Bosnian and that he was happy with his goalkeeping situation. The latest development with Adrian seems to reinforce this view.
