West Ham have had a bid for Saint Etienne right back Kevin Malcuit rejected, according to Le10 Sport. The same website had previously reported that the Hammers had made an offer for the 25 year old.

France Football magazine say the bid was in the region of €8million or £7million. They say that Saint-Etienne would like to keep Malcuit after the defender broke in to the Ligue One side’s first team this season.

The French club is also reportedly keen to ensure that the full back stays at the club by offering the player a new deal. Malcuit’s current contract expires in 2019.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic seems to be keen on signing a right back before the close of the transfer window but with the deadline first approaching, it seems like the Hammers may have to make do with one natural right sided full back in Sam Byram for the rest of the season.
