West Ham will have to fight off West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth if they want to sign Montpellier midfielder Morgan Sanson in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

Journalist Simon Jones reports that the Hammers have “discussed” a move for the 22 year old, who could cost up to £7million. Sanson is an attacking midfielder who has already scored three times, and provided seven assists, in just 19 league matches this season.

He is a French Under 21 international and looks to have a promising future in the game despite suffering a serious ligament injury at the beginning of last season.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic has said he is looking for young talent, who are relatively cheap, both criteria which would count in Sanson’s favour, but the West Ham boss has also emphasised he wants players with Premier League experience which could rule out a move for the Frenchman in this transfer window.
