Watford are “close” to sealing a loan deal for Milan forward M’baye Niang, according to Sky Sport Italia. They report that the Hornets have agreed to pay £850,000 (€1m) up front for the six month loan, while they have also agreed a purchase option of £13.6million (€16m) to sign the Frenchman permanently at the end of the season.

Reports in Italy have also linked West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Genoa with a move for the 22 year old but it seems like Walter Mazzarri’s side are now the likeliest destination for the forward

Niang has been a regular under Rossoneri coach Vincenzo Montella this season but in a press conference yesterday, the Italian expressed his frustration at the French Under 21 international’s inconsistency and revealed that the player was talking to clubs about a possible move away from the San Siro.

Niang has been at Milan for five years since joining from Caen as a teenager in 2012.
