Marseille are prepared to offer up to €40m (£34m) for West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet, according to L’Equipe. The French newspaper report however that the French club are aware that this will not be enough to convince the Hammers to sell the 29 year old.
With that in mind they are also prepared to add in former Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra into the deal. The 31 year old has also been linked with Manchester United in this transfer window, and looks set to leave the Stade Velodrome after falling out with supporters who questioned his performances this campaign.
There are complications if Diarra were to be included in any deal though. The French international owes Lokomotiv Moscow €10million after being fined for breaking his contract with the Russian club.
Whether West Ham would actually want the midfielder is also very debatable. Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang have both been operating in holding midfield roles this season and are both younger than Diarra.
