West Ham are targeting a January move for Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic according to the Daily Star. The newspaper also believes that Crystal Palace are targeting the Serbian international.

The 22 year old has played well when called upon by Magpies boss Rafa Benitez this season but the excellent form of Dwight Gayle has prevented the forward from playing more often. Mitrovic has started just four Championship matches for Newcastle, and this season so far he has scored 5 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.

The Star report that Daniel Sturridge remains West Ham’s top priority in the January transfer window but with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp stating recently he isn’t willing to allow the England international to leave, the Hammers may turn their attention to Mitrovic.

His club would want to recoup the £14.5million they paid Anderlecht for the player at the start of last season, if they do allow the Serbian to leave St James’ Park next month.
