West Ham have sounded out Atletico Mineiro striker Lucas Pratto about a possible move to the Premier League, the Sun is reporting. The 28 year old is believed to have a release clause of £12million which would allow a move to take place in the January transfer window.

The Hammers are scrambling to find a forward after discovering that Diafra Sakho will be out for another two months. With Simone Zaza returning to Juventus, and Jonathan Calleri’s likely departure to Spain, it leaves Slaven Bilic with just two out and out strikers in Andy Carroll and Ashley Fletcher.

Pratto is a target man in the Carroll mould and has only recently had his first call up to represent Argentina. He made his debut back in September in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay and then scored the first goal for his country against Venezeula a few days later.

One thing that does count against him is that he has only scored 20 goals in a season once in his career. That came in his first season for Atletico Mineiro in 2015, although the fact that he has more often than not played as a second striker, rather than leading the line by himself, means he is known more for his assists and work rate.
