Diario Gol in Spain are reporting that West Ham could have a chance of signing Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez after reports surfaced last week that other clubs may not be interested in signing the Colombian star in January.

Spanish publication Don Balon reported on Friday that West Ham had entered the running for Rodriguez, but it is unlikely the Hammers could afford a permanent transfer for the 25 year old.

Real Madrid are banned from making any deals in the January transfer window, but a loan offer for Rodriguez in view to a permanent move could be a possibility. Chelsea, Manchester United, Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain have all been tipped as potential destinations for the midfielder but none are said to be willing to part with the money Real Madrid are reportedly demanding for the player.

€40million is the maximum it seems anyone is willing to pay for Rodriguez. With manager Zinedine Zidane seeing midfielder Isco as the first choice backup in an attacking midfield role, Rodriguez may have to decide on whether to hold out until the end of the season for a permanent move, or if he wants to head out on loan next month.
