West Ham have offered €8million for Sion striker Moussa Konate, according to calcioweb.eu. The Italian website reports that the Hammers are confident that a deal will go ahead and it go through at the start of the January transfer window.

The move for Konate, they suggest, could spell the end of Simone Zaza’s brief stay in England. The 25 year old is just five matches away from triggering a €20m permanent transfer. The Hammers are believed to be unprepared to pay the fee with the Italian international failing to score for the club so far.

The move for Konate though is an interesting one, if indeed the rumour is actually true. He is a Senegalese international team mate of Diafra Sakho and Cheikhou Kouyate, and has a decent goal scoring record at international level with seven goals in 18 games.

At club level, he initially struggled to establish himself in Europe, and after brief stays at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Russian side FC Krasnodar and on loan at Genoa, where he found it hard to score goals, his move to Sion in 2014 saw him begin to score more regularly. In 18 matches this season, the 23 year old has scored 8 goals.
