Paris Saint-Germain Sporting Director Patrick Kluivert has denied that the French league champions are interested in signing Dimitri Payet in the January transfer window.
When asked about PSG’s links to Payet by French newspaper Le Parisien (via Foot01), the former Dutch international gave a short answer in reply:
“This is wrong.”
Le Parisien then elaborate that Kluivert and PSG are only looking for a striker in January, and that Payet does not fit the profile they are looking for.
The 29 year old has come in for criticism by some fans for his poor displays in recent matches, which has subsequently led to speculation about his departure from the London Stadium.
With PSG seemingly out of the running, it would suggest that Arsenal would be the clear favourites for the player’s signature but according to the Telegraph, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has no intention of signing any first team players next month. The strong indication is then that Payet will continue with the Hammers for a while yet.
