West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is hopeful forward Andre Ayew’s goal against former club Swansea City will help kick start the Ghanaian international’s season.

The 27 year old was bought for £20million in the summer but suffered a thigh injury early on in the season which hampered settling in to his new club. The forward had not scored for the Hammers until his strike on Monday, but Bilic is confident West Ham fans will now see the player that was the top goalscorer for Swansea last season. He was quoted by Sky Sports as saying:

“It was hard for him because for West Ham it is a massive price tag and then he got a very bad injury straight away. But he kept working and he’s now in a really good position to be the Ayew from last season and from Marseille.”

Ayew played in a central position with Andy Carroll as Slaven Bilic begins to reap the benefits of switching back to a back four. The three at the back was consigned to the rubbish bin after the 5-1 mauling against Arsenal, and they have gained ten points in four games since then with victories against Swansea, Burnley and Hull, and a draw at Anfield against Liverpool.
