West Ham full back Aaron Cresswell says he is relishing his new role further up the park playing for the Hammers this season.

Since returning from a knee injury against Crystal Palace in mid October, the 26 year old has been playing in a left winger/wing back role as manager Slaven Bilic switched to a 3-4-3 formation to improve performances. Talking to West Ham’s official website, Cresswell said he feels he has the ability to play the position:

“It’s certainly one that I like – I like to get forward as much as I can and you’ve also got to be defensively minded as well when the opposition are on the attack. For me, I’ll play in whatever formation the Gaffer wants.”

Despite only returning to first team action last month, Cresswell was rewarded for his performances with a call up to the England national team by manager Gareth Southgate for the friendly against Spain last week.

He was sent on at left back in the second half to make his first senior appearance for his country, and he will no doubt be wanting a few more call ups and caps when future international breaks come around.
