Leicester City and West Ham United are both interested in signing Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, according to the the Sunday People (via the Mirror).

People football reporter Tom Hopkinson believes both the Hammers and the Foxes are keen to improve their defensive options in the January transfer window and French international Sakho looks to be a good option.

The centre back fell out with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp after three transgressions on Liverpool’s tour of the United States. After being late for the flight out to the States, he was subsequently late for a team meal and was absent from a physio session designed to help his recovery from an Achlles injury. Klopp then decided to send the 26 year old home from the tour.

Since then Sakho has been frozen out at Anfield, but after an outburst on Snapchat in September about not being allowed to play for the reserves, the Frenchman was given game time with the Under 23s. Even though yesterday, he told Telefoot he is fighting hard for his future at Anfield, he looks destined to leave the club in January.
