West Ham defensive midfielder Havard Nordtveit believes he will get back into the first team reckoning again this season despite being absent from the Hammers’ starting eleven for the last three league games against Sunderland, Everton and Stoke City.

The Norwegian told the Haugesunds Avis newspaper while on international duty that he had been struggling with a number of niggling injuries since his arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer in the summer, but he has now been fit for the last three weeks. He believes he has the confidence of manager Slaven Bilic and will start to have more of an impact at the London stadium:

“They know what I can do and trust me. After two weeks there they took me [to start a match] after just one day training with the squad against Crystal Palace last month. It shows that they have confidence in me. It’s really just working as hard as I can, then comes the chance to play.”

The 26 year old was again on the bench for his country on Friday as Norway lost 2-1 to the Czech Republic. His national team have lost three of their opening four World Cup qualifiers with their only victory coming against San Marino in the 4-1 win last month.
