West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher says he is happy with his decision to join the Hammers in the summer from Manchester United. Fletcher will come up against his old side this weekend at Old Trafford and in an interview with Sky Sports he feels the experiences he has had already had with the Hammer vindicate the decision to move.

Flecther has already appeared nine times, mostly as a substitute, for West Ham, but Fletcher believes he would not have even got a look in under Jose Mourinho this season:

“I’ve made nine appearances and I don’t personally think that would have happened to me this year if I would have stayed at Manchester United. The experiences I am getting at West Ham and the way I am progressing as a player, and as a person, I feel I have really benefited. So, I think it was the right decision to leave.”

Fletcher will still have a fight on his hands to get game time at the London stadium though. Although Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri have fallen out of favour after poor starts to their time with the Hammers, the recent returns of Andre Ayew, Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll to full fitness will mean Fletcher’s chances of playing may be few and far between.
