Agent Vincenzo Morabito has been talking to an Italian radio station CRC about Napoli’s forward situation coming in to the January transfer window.

The Italian club are believed to be the front runners for signing West Ham striker Simone Zaza but Morabito believes that the Serie A side are still deciding who their top target will be with Genoa forward Leonardo Pavoletti also on their radar.

Napoli will definitely be in for a striker, says Morabito, as although top striker Arkadiusz Milik should return to first team action in the new year after recovering from a serious knee injury, Maurizio Sarri’s side will still need more cover up front with Manolo Gabbiadini currently the club’s only other option. Morabito said to to Radio CRC (quote via Tuttomercatoweb):

“Napoli is obliged Jan. 1 to take a forward, regardless of when he will return Milik will need time to regain match fitness. I know that Napoli is strong on Pavoletti and then speaks of Zaza. West Ham is a bit disappointed by Zaza, the whole team is not performing. Zaza is not in a position to say what to do, it is early to talk about what will be his future.”

Zaza’s future is far from certain after it was revealed the Hammers will have to pay £17million after 14 league appearances. The Italian has failed to score in his first nine matches leaving his future at the club in doubt.
