West Ham’s co-owner David Sullivan has addressed the ‘negative campaigning’ over the club’s move to the London Stadium this Summer from the Boleyn Ground on whufc.com as reported by The Daily Mail.

The Hammers finished their final season at their old ground in seventh place in the Premier League and currently sit eighteenth with their new one ahead of a trip to Crystal Palace this weekend but Sullivan feels the stadium does not deserve the negative press it is getting.

He said: “Despite our frustrating start to the season, the fans have been fantastic. I have to say I am getting increasingly fed up with the negative campaigning against the stadium by some sections of the media. I find it particularly galling when the journalists who are writing these skewed opinions have not even been to the stadium. To put it into perspective at the Middlesbrough game there were five arrests – ALL outside the stadium in the public park. It has not yet been confirmed which of these supporters are West Ham United fans. However, I fully accept that’s too many and we are in the process of identifying and banning these supporters in line with our zero tolerance policy.’

Sullivan has also said he has received positive remarks about the new ground and has thanked the majority supporters for their behaviour and continued support.

The next home game the Hammers have is against Sunderland in the Premier League on October 22nd with them too looking to get out of the relegation zone and that is to be followed by and EFL Cup game against London rivals Chelsea four days later.
