West Ham and Crystal Palace are set to resume their Premier League campaigns after the international break this weekend against one another and a familiar face will be up against the Hammers.

The game at Selhurst Park will see James Tomkins, a boyhood Hammers fan, start against his old club for the Eagles and co-owner David Sullivan expects him to get a good reception from the travelling West Ham fans at the ground. Speaking to the West Ham website as relayed by the Croydon Advertiser.

Sullivan said: “This will be the first time that we will be facing James Tomkins since he left the club during the summer. James was a great servant to West Ham United and made a lot of friends during his long spell at the Hammers. I hope that James will get a great reception as he was always very loyal to the club and only left to pursue regular first team football.”

Tomkins came through the West Ham youth ranks and was at the club for almost two decades but left in the Summer for Crystal Palace aiming to play more first team football under Alan Pardew. He has made four appearances so far this season in the Premier League with one goal to his name as West Ham go in search of three points to get them out of the relegation zone.
