Are these the greatest Hammers to play for England?

8. Trevor Sinclair

Perhaps an unconventional addition to the list. Trevor Sinclair is here largely for the unlikelihood of his England heroics.

Starting his career at Blackpool and then QPR, he moved to Upton Park in 1998 and quickly became a fan favourite. A versatile winger, he could play on either flank.

He was instrumental throughout the 2001/02 campaign and was on the peripheries of the England squad to go to Japan and South Korea. He got his break when Danny Murphy was ruled out with injury.

Filling in at the problematic left of midfield, Sinclair became a stalwart of the team that achieved a respectable last-eight showing. Indeed, of his 12 caps for his country, 4 came during that World Cup. Not a bad run for a man who was not even expected to be on the plane.
