The Hammers are building a team around him
It’s no secret that Payet is West Ham’s best player. In order to make this team truly blossom, Slaven Bilic needs to find players that will compliment the Frenchman. That way, Payet will know that he is at a club that is most suited to his game as he will have teammates that have been signed with him in mind.
The likes of Sofiane Feghouli and the rumoured interest in Alexandre Lacazette are prime examples. These are players that are not going to challenge Payet’s position but can offer him more inviting options in attack. The important thing to remember here is that the Hammers are not standing still, they want to repay Payet’s efforts by moulding a team that suits his style of play.
