West Ham United are set to be interested in signing Argentinian forward Gustavo Bou, according to The Mirror.

The report comes soon after Diafra Sakho’s future at the club was shrouded in doubt due to personal problems. Although the Hammers have been looking to sign a new striker this summer, the potential pursuit of Bou could suggest that West Ham are set to lose Sakho this summer.

The report states that the Hammers have been watching the 26-year-old, who plays for Argentinian team Racing Club. Although the striker is not considered a young prospect any more, his record of 43 goals in 50 games is certainly encouraging.

Bou had a chance to join Beijing Guouan in February but his club rejected the big-money move. Now, it looks as if the striker is free to leave the club in the summer and the Hammers could strike a £9 million deal with Racing Club.

The Hammers’ record in exploring the Americas market has not resulted in massive success. However, the likes of Manuel Lanzini started out in Argentina and he has proven to be a massive success at Upton Park this season.

The striker likes to dribble and is difficult to muscle off the ball. His overall stature and physique suggests that he could be built for the Premier League and if the Hammers are willing to dish out £9 million for the forward, the scouting network must have seen something.
