Diafra Sakho is a top striker, make no mistake about that.

If he had more luck with injuries, it would be no surprise to see him hitting the 20 goal a season mark on a regular basis.

A natural goalscorer who works tirelessly for the team, Sakho is the sort of player who always gives his all and it is a genuine pleasure to watch him play at times.

Recent reports surrounding the striker really isn’t good news for West Ham. Whether it’s personal issues, an injury or both, the Hammers will not want him to leave the club in the summer.

Finding another top quality striker when you already have the likes of Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll on the books is not a high pressure situation. However, if the no.15 does leave, the Hammers will need to invest in securing two strikers and they will need to hit the ground running to compensate for the loss of Sakho.

Therefore, whatever is bothering the striker needs to be sorted as he is one of the most talented players in the squad. Healthy competition between three top quality strikers is what West Ham need so it isn’t a good idea to let Sakho go at this vital time.

There is the argument that Sakho was unheard of before he arrived at West Ham and if they really wanted to, the club could find a similar replacement for little money. Although this is quite possible, there’s still an element of risk when searching for a born goalscorer and the club found a bit of a diamond in the rough with Sakho in 2014.

The Hammers should be looking to sign a £20 million striker this summer as the club cannot rely on Sakho and Carroll due to their injury records. Although both strikers do not feature for the team week-in, week-out, getting rid of either striker, especially Sakho, would be a mistake this summer.
