According to a number of reports, West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and are rumoured to be considering a move for Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Arsenal’s 22-year-old midfielder has always threatened to make an impact at the Emirates but injury issues have halted the winger’s progress so far. Since arriving at the club from North London in 2011 for £15 million, it’s clear to see the potential is there for a top player to emerge.

West Ham may feel that there are better options available in the summer and the injury baggage is always a bit of an issue. However, if Oxlade-Chamberlain could get himself fit and in form, there is certainly no doubting the England man’s ability.

If the Hammers could snap up the midfielder for a fee that doesn’t break the £10m mark, he would certainly be a good signing. It’s no secret that the Hammers will look to invest in another attacking midfielder this summer as it looks as if Victor Moses may return to Chelsea at the end of the season. Therefore, a player of Oxlade Chamberlain’s stature would be a good addition to the squad if he replaces the departing Moses.

Another wide midfielder linked with West Ham is Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko. When the Frenchman is in the mood, he is certainly a special player. The problem with the 26-year-old is that he is far too inconsistent. There are too many occasions where the player goes missing for an extended period of time throughout the season and it remains to be seen whether he could actually change that.

West Ham should only look to Newcastle for one player and that is Georginio Wijnaldum. He has really impressed for the Magpies this season and if the club do go down, you would expect a player of Wijnaldum’s calibre to move on.

The Hammers will hope for another successful summer of recruitment and there are no doubts that there will be exciting players that are linked with the club. Whether Sissoko and Chamberlain fit the bill is open to debate, as fans probably feel that the club could do better if they are looking to improve next season.
