Mark Noble (West Ham)

These players definitely deserve a chance on the international stage…

There are various West Ham players who do deserve a call up to the England national team. A number of players should have already been called up but unfortunately that phone call from Roy Hodgson continues to elude various West Ham players. At different points in time, there have been numerous players who should have been called up. However the players that will be discussed below are the players who at this point in time I feel deserve it because they are in reasonable form.

Aaron Cresswell has been fantastic since arriving from Ipswich at the beginning of last season. The left back attracted interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in the recent summer transfer window with various stellar performances which saw him win Hammer of the year.

cresswell

I saw this week that if the England team was selected purely on statistics and performance ratings, Cresswell would be the left back for England. I really hope that Cresswell gets given a chance to play for England because he plays every game, and plays very well, that cannot be said for Kieran Gibbs who seems to squirm his way into the squad.

With Luke Shaw injured, Baines only just returning from injury and Bertrand not impressing when given his chance, why is Cresswell not being selected? Overall, I hope the English full back becomes an England international because so far this season he has the most assists of any defender in the league this season (3).

Mark Noble has been an incredible servant at West Ham. The midfielder has played for England at every level other than the senior squad and it seems only logical that he is given a chance. Noble captained the England under 21 squad to a European final playing against the likes of Mesut Ozil.

Whilst some of his performances this season haven’t been terrific, in the early stages of the season he had scored and assisted a few goals. Ever since the retirement of both Lampard and Gerrard, nobody has been a permanent fixture in central midfield for England. Noble should be given a chance as he isn’t getting any younger and he totally deserves at the very least one England cap. Mark Noble in my view is no worse than the likes of Henderson, Shelvey and Milner, why not experiment Roy?

James Tomkins is a centre back who definitely deserves an England call up. He played exceptionally well against Everton and made Lukaku look pretty average throughout most of the game.

Other than the Watford game, Tomkins has played football to a good standard and has been consistent. I appreciate that Smalling has done well for Manchester United of late, however Cahill hasn’t been brilliant and Jagielka has recently been injured. James Tomkins should be given a chance, what is the worse that could happen? Neither Tomkins, Noble nor Cresswell are liabilities, as they play consistently well. Ultimately, Tomkins is a good ball playing centre half who given recent performances certainly warrants an England call up.

Those three players definitely merit England appearances based on the individual performances. Special mentions go to Jenkinson and Carroll. If Andy Carroll can turn his form around and start to score, he definitely should get another call up. If Carroll can find some form, I would say there is an argument for him being on the plane for the Euros. Carroll offers the England squad something different off the bench and he can be very effective.

Carl Jenkinson Crystal Palace

Jenkinson hasn’t had the most consistent start this season however if he can start to play better consistently, then eventually he might get a call up because he is young and has quite a lot of potential.

In summary, the England national team need to take note of West Ham because we have some good English talent which should be given a chance.

Hopefully we see at least some West Ham players in an England shirt soon because they play consistently and often play well. In the words of one West Ham fan ‘No West Ham players in the England squad, elsewhere the grass is green.’ In all seriousness, it would be nice and totally justified to see at the very least one West Ham player in the squad.
