Spanish goalkeeper Adrian is very consistent, I feel many West Ham fans would agree that he is very underrated by other fans bases and the media.

The club’s first choice goalkeeper has become a fan favourite, frequently illustrating his passion and desire for the club. The former Real Betis man is definitely underrated and he makes some saves which are incredible, and he doesn’t get enough credit from other fans and pundits in the media.

Whilst the 28 year old shot stopper has only had 1 clean sheet this season, he has an 86% average cross claim success. This is 2% higher than De Gea, the fact that Adrian has a better cross claim success than De Gea (arguably the best keeper in the league) highlights how underrated he is.

In games both this season and in the last campaign, Adrian made phenomenal saves, which were as good as goals, but he didn’t get recognition for some stellar performances. Adrian has kept the team in numerous games, I am sure that De Gea has also done that on numerous occasions.

The point is, David De Gea would get recognised for that on Match of the day, whereas Adrian wouldn’t despite the fact that he makes equally impressive saves.

Ultimately, the Spaniard has in the time he has played for West Ham been a good servant to the club. Considering his consistently good performances, it is impressive when as fans we remember the club got him on a free transfer.

Perhaps the perfect example of Adrian’s decent performances going under the radar, are when Vincente Del Bosque the Spain national manager was asked about goalkeeping selection, and he responded with ‘why is nobody asking me about Adrian?’ Hopefully Adrian starts to become recognised as the decent and solid goalkeeper we as West Ham fans know he is.
