West Ham vs Leicester City preview. How will the Hammers line up?

Key players

Jamie-Vardy

Riyad Mahrez was impressive for Leicester last weekend but Jamie Vardy also posed a real threat to Sunderland’s back line.

The English forward is very quick and is a bit of a nuisance due to his very high work rate. He does most of his damage operating in wider areas and will probably play in the hole behind the main striker. Luckily, our back-four is actually quite quick these days so the likes of Jenkinson, Reid, Ogbonna and Cresswell should be able to handle the pace of Vardy if Leicester attack on the break.

payet

There were a number of impressive performers against Arsenal and if Reece Oxford features again, there will be a lot of focus on him after his excellent Premier League debut.

A player who will be vital to opening up Leicester’s defence is French international and creative midfielder Dimitri Payet. Leicester will defend in numbers so it’ll be down to Payet to unlock Ranieri’s side with his imaginative play. If he performs to the level he showcased at the Emirates, it should be an impressive home debut for West Ham’s marquee summer signing.
