Unai Emery has quickly emerged as the number one choice to take over at West Ham next season. It is believed that Emery himself is set for talks with the owners this week as the 43-year-old Spaniard jets into the UK to discuss the managerial vacancy with the club.

The battle for Emery’s signature is believed to be between three clubs; West Ham, Sevilla and Napoli are all keen to acquire Emery’s services for next season. Sevilla President Jose Castro recently confirmed that Emery was meeting with other clubs:

“I spoke to Emery on Sunday and he informed us of meetings with other clubs to evaluate all the options

Castro did not exactly inspire confidence when he was questioned over Emery’s potential departure from Sevilla,“I hope and believe Unai will stay with us, but he will do what he sees fit”.

The comments came after Castro confirmed Napoli’s interest but rumours connecting Emery with a move to Naples have quietened dramatically in the last 24 hours.

This therefore leads to the prospect of West Ham and Sevilla potentially battling it out for Emery’s signature. The Spanish club are believed to be readying an improved offer for their current manager but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to persuade Emery to stick with Sevilla.

West Ham are believed to have tabled a lucrative contract offer for Emery with the added incentive of a healthy transfer budget and the move to the Olympic Stadium in the near future. It all depends on whether Emery is willing to undertake a new challenge in English football or lead Sevilla into the Champions League next season, a project he has been fundamental in constructing with the La Liga club.
