I’m really glad we’re not playing any football this weekend.
We don’t need to worry about points, the league, or even results until Tuesday. I feel calm, relaxed – even peaceful.
The truth is, we really need this break in play. We’ve taken one point from a possible nine during the seven day Christmas crunch period. The players look exhausted and the fans are getting frustrated— and Saturday’s home draw with West Brom looked lethargic and dangerously close to the type of football that nearly got us relegated last year.
We’ve got four days “off” between the West Brom game and an FA Cup draw with Everton, and nine days between the aforementioned West Brom game and our next league game, against Swansea – and I’m hoping we use this period to get back on our feet in a few different ways.
