Diafra Sakho Queens Park RangersMost news outlets are reporting that star West Ham striker Diafra Sakho is keen to renegotiate his contract based on his outstanding start to the season at West Ham. This story first surfaced in October, with news that the Chairmen were planning on rewarding his outstanding start to the season once we hit the New Year period.

Now that said period is upon us, and Sakho has posted a picture on social media of him at David Sullivan’s home during contract negotiations, we’re wondering – is Diafra Sakho right to start negotiating for improved terms so early into his four-year contract, or should he continue the form we’ve seen for longer than five months before re-negotiating a four year deal?

He certainly has done extremely well for West Ham since signing – there is no question of that. Sakho has scored eight goals in 11 appearances, and has been instrumental in elevating West Ham to 4th place in the league heading into Christmas. He is key to the Hammers future success, and given that up until now he was on a reported £15,000-per-week, it does seem fair to reward his incredibly hard work.

Unfortunately for Sakho, Sam did not appear too pleased at the timing of Sakho’s request, saying that ‘I don’t see why we should be discussing any contracts with anyone really too much in this period when we are playing so many games in such a short period of time.
‘But yet again players don’t see it that way do they?
‘If they think it is time for them they don’t give a monkeys about anyone else. They just get on with their own thing.
‘They won’t worry about the fact that we have got so many games and we have got to organise this and that.’
Allardyce does have a point – this is a tremendously busy and stressful time of year, and it’s essential to focus on the upcoming games. Sam’s frustrations may not have delayed this new contract though, as the Daily Star are reporting that Diafra Sakho and West Ham United have agreed a new deal, which would reportedly double his money per week to £30,000.

If it’s true, I am glad for Sakho, as I like the idea of rewarding such strong performances. His timing is less than stellar, but if the raise in wages provides even more motivation and firepower to the striker whilst heading into the festive crunch period, then I’m all for it.

It was reported a few weeks ago that DS wanted to reward the player with an improved contract. I think DS realised we had got him on the cheap. This has nothing to do with Sakho making unreasonable demands. Anyway, he was due a large pay increase when he reached 25 games. It probably wont be far off that when the new contract kicks in.

This issue is not even worth talking about, the player is worth every penny we pay him,if you compare his wage with other forwards at the club it’s a no brainer, let’s move on and put every one on a bonus system and a lower wage then we might get the same sort of effort from future buys, well done the chairmen and staff for all there efforts this year with the new players COY!

The bigger issue is the issue on which forwards play? in my opinion Sakho and Valencia should be playing as first choice forwards.I see African Nations Cup as a problem that Sam is addressing, giving AC game time. But the Kevin Nolan situation needs addressing, should he play ahead of Noble, Zarate or Kouyate? In my opinion no he should not. But hey this is just personal opinion, while we are flying high, with winning results hats off to Sam and the team whoever plays.
