The biggest mistake Big Sam could make

Ravel MorrisonA lot has been said in recent months about Sam Allardyce and many are now begging for his departure from West Ham United, but there is one mistake that Big Sam must not make whilst his reign lasts.

Every West Ham fan is in agreement of just how good Ravel Morrison is. Many were shocked and angered at Sam’s decision to let him go out on loan to QPR – not me. Ravel’s fantastic to watch, direct style of play is almost opposite to what Sam looks for in a central midfielder. At the time West Ham were right in the thick of the relegation battle (what’s changed?) and Ravel Morrison wasn’t deemed necessary to the cause, and I understand why.

However, it is for that reason that Sam cannot take it upon himself to ship out a real commodity on a permanent transfer. I am fully aware that it is thanks to Sam that Morrison ever made an appearance for West Ham, but he’s now the club’s possession. Ravel may not have suited Big Sam’s ideology (despite scoring three and assisting two in just 12 starts), but the next manager in, which is looking likely to be sooner rather than later, will almost certainly relish having a young talent like Ravel in the ranks. It would be selfish of Sam to sell such a superbly talented player, when he is knowingly aware that Ravel could potentially flourish at West Ham long after the days of Big Sam.

Despite departing in January, Ravel is joint 4th in the West Ham goalscoring leaderboard and joint 5th in terms of assists. You’d fully expect him to be 1st in both of those if he hadn’t of been sent packing to QPR. Since joining the Championship side, he has gone on to net six goals in 14 starts, not bad for a midfielder.

Ravel Morrison was one bright light in a dull season at West Ham, and that light was temporarily pushed into the distance by Big Sam. The Hammers fans have all been keeping half an eye on Loftus Road since January as the light still shines. If Big Sam is selfish in planning for a West Ham future where he is in the frame, and decides to let Ravel move on permanently, it will be a huge loss for the future of West Ham. That’s why I believe it’s the single biggest footprint Sam Allardyce can leave on the club, and it may always be a case of ‘what if?’.

How would BS sell him before he gets sacked. If he going to be sacked in the I immediate future then it will be before the transfer window actually opens.

As i watched the games over weekend,it was so obvious that the style BFS plays is so outmoded. To see the play and runs of Sterling, Ramsey to name only two,the way their teammates responded with play from side to side and direct through the middle of the park made me bloody angry we can only manage moments of quality. In answer to you Toby,i just hope not another season with him,but look for some inspirational manager to rekindle football at Upton Park and the on to the OS.From a fan of 65 years who has see it all.and would love to see ambition not the dire crap we have had for these last 40 games, only Febuary saved us and the argument that we need him for our survival in the top flight is bollocks what about talent!!!!!!

Sam has a choice, if he is the great manager he says he is he will follow the brief given him by the owners. I cannot imagine the owners, [both long term West Ham supporters] would want us to be playing the Carroll Nolan axis in the Olympic Stadium. Time to play more expansive attacking football with a second striker, since the change in the laws big muscle teams are confined to lower leagues, pace and flair are what is needed, if Sam stays can he deliver this brief?

As I stated in my post Dave,i said talent you say pace and flair>Sam could not spell it let alone play it, completely against his whole football ethic, combining all together would Saturday come quick enough????

GET HIM OUT HE HIS A DYNOSAUR

Yeah, what “if”. If is a big word, what may have happened “if” we hadn’t let fatso ship one of our best players out. We may have been in the top 8? That’s what “if”. And what if Sam hadn’t insisted on continually starting Andy, whom he has admitted, still isn’t fully match fit, instead of Carlton Cole. Too many what ifs for me, that spell out bad management loud & clear!

It’s all very well keep saying Sam must go . But who the f we gonna get in , please don’t rattle on about Malkey or mad dog as you may as well keep Sam. it’s about time we went for a manager who’s a proven winner ,

  • Danielson says:

Carroll even unfit is a better option than cole, absolutely no skill although a loyal servant he needs replacing. Would be nice to see if mcCormack can handle the prem but we need a few major signings not allardyce bargain basement players.

manager-wise…. ive said it a few times now but surely di matteo could do wonders at west ham and would rwlish in the challenge. I agree all the talk of malky etc… theyre still mid table managers so we may aswell stick with bfs.

  • Frankie boy says:

DiMatteo? If only… At least he’d install a midfield with a bit of pace who knew where the goal is. IMO I’d ship Carroll out (if we could afford to) & get a couple of quick guys up front who can exploit the spaces & lose their marker.

  • rivieralet says:

Must get rid of BFS and the whole of the terrible midfield … no pace , no skill , no ball winner , no goals , no defence splitting pass . I know hundreds love Noble but he is a one trick pony…penalties … thanks for your loyalty … go now .

    • Brian McFlipper says:

Total garbage. Noble is the ONLY element of class in a team of mediocrity. He has covered and filled for the hopeless sub-standard Taylor, Diame and Nolan. Try watching games a bit closer mate. Player of the year by a country mile. Not bad for a “one trick pony” who runs further, works harder, passes better, tackles more and actually cares about his boyhood club. Some supporter you are.

      • rivieralet says:

Sorry I upset you ! Wipe the shite out of your eyes and count the number of times he gives the ball away , gives away stupid free kicks , wastes corners , wastes free kicks and allows people to run past him because he is so slow . I am just as entitled to an opinion as you and if you look at the position we are in perhaps yours is the crap one ???

    • Peter says:

perhaps need to take a look at Wes Hoolahan, who’s tried to leave Norwich earlier this season. If Norwich are confirmed as relegated I can’t think he’d want to stay to further his Irish international chances.

  • Steve says:

Surely someone at West Ham must be concerned that we are not selling out home games this season? We may stay up under BFS (just) but if we can’t fill Upton Park due to the negative football on show, how the hell do they expect to fill even half of the Olympic Stadium?

    • JB says:

Well that’s what West Ham have elected to move into. Is anybody expecting the OS to be more than half full? With just West Ham inside of it? Maybe a £20 is plenty admission would work? Yeah make it a £20 is plenty with 2 free pints thrown, now that would work, thoughts anyone? I really don’t think the owners give a damn about next season anyway & how many fans turn up. The OS is factored right into their thinking with the funding in place to finance the move regardless of how punters turn up at the last season at the Boleyn. What will be interesting is that if West Ham play more of the same sh*te next season, that they have been playing this season, with no one wanting to sign for BFS, & West Ham & the Orient both end up in the Championship together, an OS ground share with the “Os” maybe?. The owners don’t give a damn about us fans so why should we give a damn about what happens to their investment.
