Matthew TaylorOur good ol’ friends over at Claret and Hugh are reporting that West Ham midfielder Matthew Taylor will be offered a new deal.

Before Christmas, any talk of a new contract for the 32-year-old would’ve been laughed off. However, Taylor’s recent combative performances have meant many Hammers have been calling for the club to sign him up.

The potential new deal is reportedly just for one year and, although you’d imagine he won’t be a starter next season, having someone of Matt’s experience around will be a great asset.

You pleased Big Sam is looking to keep hold of Taylor’s services?

Has always given 100%, is apparently very popular with the players and now, at last, is being appreciated by the West Ham fans. Perhaps not the most naturally gifted player but has made the most of his ability throughout his career. It was the likes of Matty Taylor we needed to get us out of the dire trouble we were in. The recent run of good results has coincided with him having a run in the team. If the talk of a new contract is correct, great news and well done Matt.

Matt Taylor has surprised a few people lately and performed to the best of his ability. Without playing a starring role he’s done a lot of the vital but unspectacular stuff in front of the back four. Well done to him but surely our ambitions are a bit greater than signing a 32 year-old who is more Championship than Premier League.

If we stay in the Prem this year it must be a priority to clear out some of the lads who’ve done their best but are just not players who will offer what’s required if we are to move forward next season. To name some names; Taylor, McCartney, Collison, Jarvis, Nolan, C Cole, J. Cole, O’Brien etc. We must replace these boys with players of Premiership quality.

We should be looking to improve team not stick with same old mediocre players. A few long overdue decent performances don’t turn him into the future.

His been at west ham for three seasons now and has just started to get in the team Its time to bring in better players whats the point of getting players on loan and not playing them time for fat cunt sam to go before he ruins the youth set up

matt is a honest player, will always do a job for us, but as a squad player, just hope we learn a lesson off last summer transfer mess, get some younger players in, we are still three/four sort. don’t want to go through this season’s mess again. coyi

When Karen Brady said were building a world class team for a world class stadium she must have been under anesthetic, for Sam has made some pretty poor signings during his reign. Pogatetz, rat , diarra , maiga, etc , now we’re looking at giving new contracts to Taylor who,s 33 next birthday , and collision who can’t even pass a ball , world class team ? Dream on .
