I am Hammers fan but that is not strictly true Adam. The important figure to look at is how often you hoof the ball as a percentage of all your passes. More long balls in a game doesn’t necessarily mean you are more of a long ball team. Last season we had one of the worst percentages in the league, in fact it might have been the worst as far as long balls per pass goes. The same will probably be true this season. Manipulate the facts all you want but I do find it astounding how some Hammers fans try to dispute the fact that we play terrible football. It speaks volumes that against Southampton we played some of the best stuff we’ve played under Sam and still we get stick from opposing fans about our style lol.
Dear RVT , you can’t possibly be a Hammers a fan ! well not a real one anyway .What on earth does it take to get you behind the team .Did you see the thousands of fans celebrating behind the goal as we scored ? They didn’t look unhappy to me with the way we played.At the moment your “Big Sam out ” campaign is falling on deaf ears .What the fans want are goals and points , not watching the after match video of the manager saying “sorry we lost but we did play some pretty football today so that’s fine”
As for getting stick from opposing fans over Sam’s alleged style of play , i would rather that than get the sort of stick Swansea’s Cheato Flores got for his diving and acting ability ,a campaign against cheating is a far more worthy cause to spend your time and energy on .If we had got rid of Sam 6 weeks ago we would still be in the bottom 3 i reckon .The successful , purist West Ham style of play you crave for from a past era , never was i’m afraid ,unless i missed something in the last 50 odd years of watching .Take a closer look at the top four or six clubs style of play ,they do whatever it takes to get the points , including grinding out the results and eleven men behind the ball when required . Managers are judged on results at the end of the day .Can you tell me the last time we beat the Spuds twice in a season on their own turf ? or for that matter won four in a row in the top flight ?
