Big Sam on the brink of losing his job

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce. pic andy hooperIt is hardly surprising but various media outlets are reporting that Sam Allardyce’s job at West Ham is under threat.

The Telegraph even go as far as saying that, if the Hammers lose to Sunderland, Big Sam will be out of a job.

Despite David Gold and David Sullivan’s reluctance to sack managers halfway through a season, they are also keen to avoid the whole Avram Grant debacle.

With fixtures against Premier League leaders Arsenal and relegation rivals Manchester United in the coming weeks, Big Sam knows he needs to turn things around and quickly.

Glenn Hoddle – who is a good friend of Sullivan’s – is the one of the favourites to replace Allardyce should the former Bolton Wanderers manager be given his P45.

Another space to keep an eye on, is the reports that former Red Devils striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has postponed contract talks with Molde.

Does Big Sam still have your support? If not, whom do you want in?

Agreed, Big Sam is on a knife edge.
He will be acutely aware he will not be given the benefit of the doubt due to the Avram Grant debacle if we lose to Sunderland.

This will obviously give Sam a huge excuse to suggest he has been sacked most unfairly of course!

Glenn Hoddle is an interesting choice, definitely plays the game us west Ham fans would like to see. Mainly ‘playing on the floor’.

However, I don’t think we got the players to play anything that technical!

The Tottenham connection I doubt would go down too well either!

I am actually not that surprised we are in this situation. If we consider the fact
we are in the second season syndrome of promoted clubs and admittedly we are a yoyo club!

The question I often reflect on is what were the manager and board thinking they were doing over the summer?????

    No recognised striker???
Players get injured, Carroll was already injured. He was not going to play anyway!

“Maiga is not to be trusted he has had plenty of chances but cannot find the back of the net” big Sam said recently.
I suggest Sam’s assessment of his players are not up to scratch, his foresight is again limited as to why we did not prioritise a proper back up striker, logic dictates you would think!

We did buy Petric the bench warmer, obviously another striker not be trusted

The striker we got rid of in Carlton Cole we now re-employed. Not to be trusted of course!

So, no proper back up for Carroll. However, we did buy Downing, another winger instead???
So two wingers and Carroll. Lol, we may just as well sent a massive advert to all other clubs outlining our one and only tactic!
As we all know that tactic has never materialised, so what do we do we play without any striker at all!
    This is laughable!!
West Ham’s end of season DVD will consist of a one 90 minute match away to Spurs!!

Very, very basic mistakes from people experienced enough in the game you would think would know better.

The West Ham hierarchy have no one but themselves to blame. They literally took their eye off the ball with the new stadium, the supposed extra income, the supposed push for Europe after a reputable 10th position last season.

All that board room backslapping has stopped now eh.

It’s bad enough that pundits and ill-informed bloggers call us a yo-yo team, without our own fans doing it too. The Prem’ began in ’92. In nearly 22 yrs of Prem’ football, we have been relegated just twice. We are NOT a yo-yo club. Sort yr life out.

  • Matt Ryan says:

Seriously?? ManU relegation candidates?? One of the silliest things I’ve read in a long time

  • hammermolder says:

Personally,i think the players have to take a lot of the blame, they’ve had great chances to keep us in the games and just(sorry) fucked up.Sam will keep us up,as for hoddle, your aving a laugh, c.o.y.i

  • Flamineo says:

Sod the Spud connection, get Hoddle in now.

  • an_bright says:

Get rid now get hoddle in at least we will play football the right way on Saturday goofing the ball to 5ft miaga was a joke and with Nolan having his Christmas of again we need to play the right way and please Mr gold and Mr Sullivan please get rid now of Sam and give Mr hoddle money to get us out of this downward spiral we can’t even win two games on the trot since we got promoted here endith my rant

  • garysteer.co.uk says:

Solskjaer? No thanks!!! Hoddle is at least worth exploring as mentioned above he likes to play on the floor and I’d rather have options instead of this cautious ‘not lose’ football that allardyce has us playing. I believe we are now the worst most predictable team in the prem and majority of the squad are championship players. Hence why we are probably gunna go down

  • bubbles says:

BFS has got very limited resources . All you fans that keep on about Noble for England must be choking on your words . Yet another terrible ,inept , performance . Tomkins , C.Cole, Jas,Demel , O’brien ….. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Does not matter who the manager is …with this crap we are doomed !!

  • englandsnumber6 says:

Do any of you posting on here actually go to west ham, or have been watching for the past 10/20/30 yrs i dont think so. wind your necks in, BFS is the best manager we have had, we are no better than a mid table side, so our league position is about right, calm down we wont go down.

  • Kenny Irons says:

Allardyce is a clown. We have a championship squad albeit about four players.
It’s not football under Allardyce. Football is played with movement, tempo and pace, not the sterile incompetence dished up by his “team” one week after the other.
Hopefully, the owners have a replacement lined up and they need to make the right decision quickly. The new manager needs to be in place before the transfer window opens, so he can bring his own players in. Need about four or five in and some of the dead wood out or it’s goodbye Prem’ !!

  • Spen55 says:

The club have been sleepwalking down to the table into a relegation battle. That says everything about the manager and the board. Its been the loyal, ever suffering fans who have been sounding the alarm for months, not the silent, smug board, still preening over last years 10th place finish, nor the self-promoting windbag Allardyce who now appears as inept as the appalling Avram Grant. Sunderland at home next week. Can you have a 12-pointer ?????

  • Claret and blue says:

SAMs obsession with A Carroll will be he’s downfall. What amazes me Is Carroll injury happened on the last game of the season, he was then allowed to go in holiday. We are becoming a joke, the other point is why is Sam not playing any of the development squad.

  • wolfie says:

Don’t agree that we don’t have players to play on the floor,Morrison ,J Cole,Demel & Downing aren’t just lump it forward types, when allowed to play his natural game MM shows some nice touches.I like the Hoddle idea but another young manager who is doing ok with limited funds is ex Hammer Malky Mackay, worth a look ?

  • grayster says:

Right, I can’t say I’ve ever liked BFS too much before or after he became manager, or his perceived style. I wasn’t very happy with how we got promoted from the Championship. Sure the Wembley finale was great but with the assets at hand, there was no way we should have come third in the race. That season I found watching the team painfully frustrating due to his tactics. We did finish 10th last season but that flatters to deceive. A few games before the end we were teetering close to a late panic, but we pulled away. But I saw some good football at the Bolyen and it certainly wasn’t all long-ball as so many go on about. I really thought and still think we have a decent squad. We have added it to it well except for the critically glaring error up front. I’m getting fed up with the whole team getting slated all the time. Our defence is good, very good when Reid isn’t injured. Jussi has been outstanding. Sure there’s some mistakes but they’re pretty solid normally. The amount of midfield choices we have now is large. Morrison a star in the making. Noble I think has been playing well. Diame if played in the right position is class. Nolan has not impressed but mostly because he is missing the big striker. I see, in the main, a decent enough (if now demotivated) squad that just can’t convert. Yes, I find it frustrating that BFS insists on playing one small striker at the front and that he hasn’t rested Nolan (but he has to now). I question why Cole isn’t getting a proper chance. Or even Cole and Maiga in an old school 4-4-2. But come on, let’s be sensible here. Let’s keep the continuity of manager. Let’s not be the same fickle idiots like most of the leagues now. We’ll scrape into January probably now deep in the bottom 3. Let Allardyce and the Board clear up their August balls-up by buying/loaning some firepower. They’ll have to pay up now as all know we’re desperate but this is mega-bucks to them if we go down. And let’s stop pinning all hope on Carroll. He gets injured too often and will again.

When Sam was appointed, I said, I don’t like him much but he’ll get us up and keep us up long enough to keep stable and ready for the move to the OS, and then maybe better things/different manager. I still think that now.

It amazes me how people cr@p their pants and call for a sacking all the time now. We are 6 points off the top half of the table. Yes we are in a bad position, and will be worse by 1 Jan, but the last thing we need now is a Redknapp/Roeder style debacle.

    • anne says:

Well said i too am fed up with the negativity and the way fans slag off Sam and the team, What will you get if you change the Manager i good game while they aim to impress like FULHAM. We need to stay calm and get behind Manager and team, Oh so many football experts out there AND the Media i can’t stand them If you watch Sunday Supplement on a Sunday you will hear the rubbish first hand that they speak. IT IS ONLY their opinion they are not experts, Would love to put them on a pitch and see if they can live up to their ideas.

  • the swindon hammer says:

we put up with crap football coz he kept us up last season but this was always going to happen as soon as results turned we could have got 2 7 or 8m forwards but no all our eggs were put in 1 basket and look what happens 3pts Saturday or allardyces resignation its that simple!

  • Dave says:

Hopefully two David’s listen to billy bonds and do not get rid of bfs just yet, lessons have been learned regarding all eggs in one basket but he does need time to pick things up when Carroll is back
