Chris SollyWe’re looking a bit thin on the ground for defenders at the moment, and it’s exposed an area where we probably need some more back up. Lets face it, we’ve had a lot of injury woes so far this season, and it does look like Sam Allardyce put all his eggs in one ponytailed basket when spending in the summer.

So who should we look to help bolster our back four and get some more strength in the defence? Here are some potential transfer targets for the Hammers.

1. Johan Djourou (Arsenal) – This defender’s luck seems to be up at Arsenal, with them consistently loaning him for the last few seasons. Although currently on a season long loan at Hamburger SV so not realistic for this season, he could be an option come May.

2. Chris Solly (Charlton Athletic) – A right back currently ever present in the Charlton line-up, Solly has made over 100 appearances for the Addicks. At only 22 he has already won their player of the year award, and would have a lot of seasons in him to develop.

3. Liam Ridgewell (West Bromwich Albion) – Ridgewell is a decent defender, and has featured heavily in the Baggies’ side so far this season. He was brought up in Bexleyheath, so may even welcome a move back to London. And with him embarrassing his club by wiping himself with £20 notes in late 2012, they may prefer him to move on before any more incidents! Ridgewell is also out of contract at the end of the season, which could swing things in West Ham’s favour.

4. Philippe Senderos (Fulham) – Senderos is also out of contract at the end of the season, and with Fulham looking at a potential drop into the Championship, they may want to offload some players. Senderos would be a bit of a bargain buy and so could be a realistic option if we can bring our wage bill down as well.

You make the point that Fulham ae looking at a potential drop into the Championship. Don’t you think West Ham are as well, because I certainly do unless in my oinion Alladyce is sacked and someone come in to play proper football. Tobe hones I really thought we had seen the back of the bad times but now I am sure we haven’t.
