Elliot LeeTwo promising West Ham United youngsters have gone on loan to lower league sides today, in a bid to get some match time under their belts.

Strikers Elliot Lee and Paul McCallum have gone to Colchester United and Torquay United respectively on month long loans.
Torquay manager Alan Knill had this to say about McCallum:
“We hope he is the missing jigsaw piece and you don’t have to be a football genius to know we’re missing a little bit at the top end of the pitch.

“Paul is something different. He scored goals last year for Aldershot and Wimbledon, and actually scored here for Wimbledon, and we’re very thankful to West Ham for letting him out.”

In more unfortunate loanee news, goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has dislocated his shoulder whilst on loan at AFC Bournemouth. The shot stopper is said to be ruled out for six months, and the AFC Bournemouth physio confirmed it was a concerning injury.

As for Jack Collison, he’s played his way straight into Bournemouth’s starting eleven, with 3 full lots of 90 minutes for him so far.

Out of all the players that we currently have out on loan, I’d say that Collison and Lee are the two I’m most hopeful of developing their West Ham career. Elliot Lee has been on fine form this season for the development squad, and, at only 18, I hope to see him in he West Ham first team soon.

As for Collison, he’s never really seemed the same after his injury, but part of me thinks that this may be down to the fact he hasn’t really had a run in the first team, so the AFC Bournemouth loan could be perfect for him.

Which of these players do you think has most chance of becoming a Hammers hero in the future? Leave me a comment or tweet me at @alwaysintune.
