What’s going on with West Ham’s transfer target?

Wilfried-BonyWilfried Bony has been the subject to most of West Ham’s recent transfer news. But, what is actually going on with the striker?

It recently became known that we had officially submitted a £10.2 million for Bony not long after he seemed destined to join Swansea. However, Vitesse rejected our bid straight away. Bony had always made it very clear that a move to London was at the top of his list and considering West Ham were the only team in for him, it looked as though we were certainly in the driving seat.

Swansea however were the first team to officially submit a bid for the striker and Bony seemed to completely change. He went from wanting a move to London to saying that he would love a move to Swansea and their style of football would suit him best. Judging by this, you can quite clearly tell that Bony isn’t too bothered where he ends up, just as long as it’s in the Premier League. He has been trying to push a move through to the Premier League all summer.

It’s been said that the reason West Ham’s bid was rejected by Vitesse was because we were only offering to pay the fee for Bony in installments, where as Vitesse wanted the full amount paid upfront. It has also been said though that we are set to re-bid for Bony.

We have to look at what Bony wants and decide who has the advantage. Bony has made it clear on many occasions that he wants to play European football, something that Swansea can offer him where as we can’t. But, how long are Swansea going to be in Europe for? They are only in there because they won the Capital One Cup, something I can’t see them repeating next season.

On the other hand, West Ham seem to have a much better future planned out ahead of them and they seem to be able to offer Bony the wages he wants. If Bony is looking at the move to the Premier League long term, then it would only make sense to join us. We finished on the same points, as Swansea last season don’t forget.

I have the feeling that this Bony saga could drag out for a fair few weeks. These days, transfers are never easy, especially with how much the player’s agents get involved now. Bony could join anyone at the moment and I wouldn’t be surprised if a completely new club came in for him. However, there is no denying that Swansea are in the driving seat.

Funnily enough that’s exactly what I put west ham fans’ attitude down to – Short man syndrome. Being one of the smaller London clubs in comparison, you must have that desire to compensate for your short-comings by making yourselves seem bigger than the rest of the UK. It quite hilarious really.
Stadium size has nothing to do with performance on the pitch and as it stands, Swansea has you beat all ends.

  • Chrisny says:

Yep, nothing but drivel here. We’ll just do our talking on the pitch, it may be the only language some of these commentators understand. The choice will be Bony’s and sounds like he’s already decided anyway.

    • WHU says:

Bony doesn’t have a choice. West Ham aren’t upping their bid. As if he’d chose Swansea over London if he had a choice. We’ll get Zapata, who is younger, faster and doesn’t have a reputation for being lazy.

LOL the brain dead londoner who posted the last comment should realise that at least from Wales we were born here as opposed to the so called England supporters who came here by any mean s possible even paddling canoes. He is right that London is where foreigners want to go but for a lot more reasons than football. If you want to see a mug mate look in the mirror you got the attitude of jealous people a tosser through and through. What team do you actually support or don,t you know.

    • Bubbles says:

Name should give away who I support (your brains a bit dead there I see). How exactly did I come across as jealous, I responded to your stupid comment which made you look jealous.
You agree with my point about foreigners coming to London is what most prefer to do so that’s me right then.
I’m a hammers fan on a hammers site where I’m suppose to me, who do you support and why are you on here if you’re not some desperado.
4 points you made 4 times I mugged you off, go back to tossing over men on net porn, yer mug

      Says the Welshman in Spain.

  • The Cat says:

If I was Bony – Where would I go?
Natural Heavyweight or pumped up heavyweight???
Managers & players use the swans as a stepping stone to cutting their teeth in the Premiership. Survival, finance & long term success probably can’t be sustained.

    Decisions, decisions!

28 comments most from Swansea fans all on a West Ham fansite. I’ve never been near a Swansea site in my life & have no interest in ever doing so. Which is the bigger club? Jog on boyos!

  • Notsuchabigclub says:

Don’t flatter yourself, showed up on newsnow swansea.

    • Swansea lol says:

Yeah but when that happens to me I never bother commenting as that would just make me look desperate

    • Ray_The_Hammer says:

Wherever it showed up it’s a West Ham fan site written by a West Ham fan about West Ham for West Ham fans to read and comment on. Do you not see the thread? I’ll give you a clue, It ain’t Swansea

      • WHU says:

I don’t think Swansea have their own websites. They barely have computers over there.

  • Notsuchabigclub says:

Good for you mate. Each to their own and all that. Whereas you may like to cower and accept it, others may feel the need to stand up for their club.
But as I said, each to their own.

  • bob says:

Ok lads lets stop this squabbling. This guy now loves to move to Wales. Last month he loved to move to London. In February he demanded to move to Russia. This guys attitude or his agents is crap. What happens if he joins one of us and gets a hint Chelsea like him? Hmmmmmmmm I wonder.

  • Newport_Jack says:

How much did you pay for that donkey Carrol? One season back in the premiership and you think you are big again. Show some humility and enjoy your short stay back in the premiership. Don’t forget you’ve got a dinasour as manager, whereas we have a maestro!

    • The Cat says:

      You’ve got some front!!!

Try to say Swansea without wetting yourself!

Ah yes, swansea that powerhouse of British football.

I wonder if a football league is sustainable in wales??? Let me think, I thought….does not compute!!!

    • Ray_The_Hammer says:

Show some humility? All I did was point out that this is a West Ham site etc. mind you, why should we think it’s less than normal for Swansea fans to post on another team’s site – you don’t even play in your own bloody league!!!!

    • Tom says:

You support Swansea mate. Enough said

  • jaxs says:

Your being *owned* by the jacks tonight lads aint you 🙂

  • bob says:

    Small team from cardiff

  • Notsuchabigclub says:

Ahh there’s the ‘you don’t even play in your own league’. How original. Point proven me thinks.
And stand up for my club, pretty sure I’m repeating myself here mate, sorry if I didn’t make it clear the first time.

    • The Cat says:

ah, you’ve had your 15 minutes, your repeating yourself, take a bow
      …………………..exit stage left!

    • Ray_The_Hammer says:

Ok, deep breath. Scroll to the top of the page, in big letters it says Forever West Ham, under that it says, what’s going on with West Ham’s transfer target?. What follows is an article written by a West Ham fan. Why do you feel the need to defend your club? It wasn’t addressed to your club or it’s supporters, it wasn’t intended for you to read, it wasn’t intended to insult you it was intended to provoke discussion amongst West Ham fans. I just don’t get it? Are Swansea fans soooo insecure or confrontational that they feel the need to trawl other clubs sites to see who’s saying things they don’t like about their club? Of course the author of this piece is going to suggest that players should pick West Ham over Swansea, he’s a West Ham fan for goodness sake, and it wouldn’t be much of a piece if he didn’t evidence that however tenuously or biased. Granted, the country thing was a cheap shot but there’s some right muppets on here winding me right up. You don’t need to stand up for your club, your players and manager ( who is destined for great things methinks ) are doing that we’ll enough. Good luck for next season, but please would you all now go away and let us talk bollox amongst ourselves.

    • Swansea lol says:

I other words do one back to your tiny clun you sad little losers.

Can’t believe how much the fans have changed due to a tiny bit of success, thought Swans fans were better than that.

  • Notsuchabigclub says:

Ray you make an excellent point, not only showing how ridiculous it is squabbling amongst ourselves but also making the whole thing seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things.. Well done to you sir, I would happily leave it on that note… Then one sad little individual drags you all back down to the dumpsters and makes you all look totally retarded again. It’s quite amazing how the impact of one post can you all look.

In our defence, it came up on newsnow (not sure how much you guys read this) on the swansea site and a lot of swans fans tend to check this everyday.
We don’t trawl through westham sites, we have absolutely no reason to, just a case of your showing up on our website… If I read a well balanced article with a hint of bias then fair enough, but the arrogance of both article and comments is just begging for a reply.

    • Swansea lol says:

What a nob, stop messaging no one wants you here with your self righteous bull.
Oh no some Swansea fan might not like our fans, as we give a shat what a nob ‘ead like you thinks. You came to us and couldn’t bare to read the article and leave as you haven’t got the confidence in your team to let their footy do the talking.
      Now run along lil girl

  • SA1 Jack says:

Swansea have had a deal in place for Bony since January. Its Vitesse that are stalling. The player wants to come to Swansea as his agent has quite clearly stated numerous times. As for insecurity, we have nothing to be insecure about, top half finish in the last two seasons, a carling cup and this season europen football. But please all keep thinking were a non entity in the premiere league. It helps breed our success.

  • not even the fifth best in London says:

Just a quick update we(swansea)have upper our bid to £13.7m all in one go too rising to 15 with bonuses don’t think you got much chance really

    • Swansea lol says:

No we have no chance bell end because we won’t up from 10m which is what WE deem he is worth.
But as we are all saying here (accept the Swansea nobs) he will go to whoever offers the most money. Not Swansea because he thinks they are going places lol, how naive are you??? When we both offered 10 he was tipped for us, make of that what you will. But the order of things is upfront cash, wages, location, status and history. (Status only comes into play for leagues and champs league qualification for foreign players). So between you and us we would win in location (foreigners prefer London and history). 2nd lesson done

    • Aaron says:

Your nothing but sheep shagging spastics

  • Swansea lol says:

    Your welcome btw

  • Johnsey says:

Have the school holidays started already?

    What a pathetic “debate”.

Grow up the lot of you and please stop the childish insults, the world seems to be full of keyboard warriors.

    PATHETIC !!!
